Rummage Crate is a small app for people who buy and resell vintage items. This page says, in plain words, what it keeps about you, where, who can see it, and how to get rid of it.
What it keeps
- Your sign-in details: the name, email address and profile picture your Google account gives the app. The app never asks for access to your Google Drive, Sheets or anything else.
- What you enter: your items, the photos you take, notes, prices paid and sold, shelf locations, the stores you sell through and their rent and cut, and your settings.
- Use: how many paid scans you have used this month, and when you started recent scans (to stop runaway use).
Who it is shared with, and why
These services help the app work. Each sees only what is needed for its part:
- Google signs you in.
- Anthropic (Claude) looks at the photos you scan to work out what the item is. Photos you only store, and never scan, are not sent.
- A picture-search service (SerpApi, which uses Google Lens) receives one cropped photo of the item through a temporary link that expires in minutes, to find similar listings.
- Listing searches (for example eBay) are made with words describing the item, not with your photos or your name.
- Neon keeps the database and Vercel hosts the app and keeps your photos in private storage, in the United States.
Your data is not sold, and the app shows no advertising.
Who can see it
- You. Nobody else using the app can see your items or photos.
- The owner of the app, who runs it and invites people. The owner can see who has an account (name and email), how many scans each person used, and how many items each person has. The owner also runs the database, so can technically reach stored data; the app is built so that other people's items are never shown on screen.
How long it is kept
- While you have an account, for as long as you keep it.
- An item you delete is hidden at once and removed for good after 30 days.
- The app saves a backup copy of everyone's data each morning and keeps each for 30 days, so a mistake can be undone.
Your choices
- Download your data any time: Settings, then Back up my data.
- Delete your account any time: Settings, then Delete my account. It removes your account, items, photos, comps, stores, settings and the backup copies of them, and cannot be undone.
- You can ask the owner to suspend or remove your account.
Cookies
The app uses one cookie to keep you signed in. It does not use tracking or advertising cookies.
This page may change as the app does. It describes how the app works today; it is not a legal contract.
